User Interface

The interface of Landbot is really intuitive. It provides a visual drag and drop interface, in which you connect blocks together. Each block represents a chatbot element, such as asking a question to the user or giving a certain answer:

You can also add conditions to your flow and send messages based on the responses to a certain query. When you ask someone their age, for example, you can send persons under 30 years old to message 1 and people over 30 years old to message 2.

There is one disadvantage, as with any flow builder: if you have a lot of distinct flows, the quantity of alternatives becomes overwhelming, and you will likely lose sight of the big picture. Chatbot elements

Landbot provides a wide variety of elements to build your own chatbot. There are only five elements they do not provide, so that is quite good. 

Unfortunately, Landbot does not provide free text input. And do not understand me wrong, it is possible to type in answers in Landbot, but this is only limited to predetermined questions. A user can't ask a random question in the middle of a conversation. It is only possible to ask a question when the chatbot maker decided that the user can ask a question. The benefit is that the user always stays in a certain flow, the drawback is that a user cannot ask more advanced questions. Up to you, which you prefer more

AI & NLP(Natural language processing)

In Landbot, you can automatically reply when someone types in a certain keyword. Landbot provides two elements for this: The Keyword Jump and Global Keywords. With the Keyword Jump, the chatbot developer decides when the user asks a question and then routes the user to the right message:

The Global Keywords is different. With the Global Keywords element, you can set up keywords that are valid for the entire flow (except only for a specific moment – which is the case with Keyword Jump). 

If keyword-matching alone is not enough for you, you can also integrate with Dialogflow. With this integration, you can understand the intent of the user and use Entities in your Landbot chatbot.

Users

Within Landbot, it is really easy to add custom fields to specific users. You can ask questions to users and the answers will be stored in certain custom fields. Unfortunately, it is not possible to add certain tags to users or to create certain user segments. 

Regarding the user segments, it is possible to send a user a specific message based on their response to a question (kind of segmentation). However, it is not possible to send a user a message based on multiple custom fields. Therefore, I determined that user segmentation is not possible.

Messages

With Landbot, it is not possible to send broadcasts and sequences. But this is also logical because Landbot is mainly used for chatbots on websites.

Furthermore, conditions are possible with their “Conditional Logic” block, which works like a charm. 

With Landbot it is also possible to make a chatbot in any language. They do not provide specific multi-languages support, but because with Landbot you can switch from chatbot to chatbot, you could make the following structure:

  1. A general chatbot that asks you for your language
    1. For example “Do you speak English or Hindi”?
    2. If you answer with “Hindi” you get referred to the Hindi chatbot
    3. If you answer with “English” you get referred to the English chatbot

For every chatbot, you can also determine the default phrases yourself (for example, if someone is typing a wrong e-mail), so that is not a problem as well. The drawback of this approach however is that you need to do it manually, which takes a lot of time and duplication.

Analytics

Landbot provides really basic analytics. They have a dashboard with the number of users who interacted with the chatbot, the number of leads you got from it, the number of leads how reached the goal, and the number of users who finished the chatbot.

Also, Landbot provides a tab with all the users (and their characteristics) who used your chatbot. Just standard Analytics, nothing special.

But the best part of the Analytics in Landbot is what they call “Flow Analytics”. And believe me, I have never seen such Analytics in chatbot software before.
